I have been frequenting this sought-after tavern in the lower Brescia area for years. Coveted because, apart from the weekly lunch breaks where if you arrive early you will find a place, on weekends the waiting list is months long. Nowadays the Farmacia dei Sani restaurant only operates from Wednesday to Sunday only for lunch. Once upon a time it also delighted us in the evening, unfortunately for a few years they have limited the activity. Over time the menu has never undergone major changes, but the classic does not need renewal. The first aspect I would like to highlight is the quality of the raw materials used. I'll give you an example, in general I'm always wary of the appetizer counter, the quality is never great in trattorias. Here at Farmacia dei Sani it's not like that, the Russian salad is handmade, the salami is a fantastic local one, the vegetables are all delicious. Start with the hot appetizers, polenta with porcini mushrooms, culatello with melon, sliced raw mushrooms and, to stay in the Brescian tradition, melted cheese and omelette (this perhaps the only one not up to par). There is also an excellent carpaccio offered off the menu.Everything was excellent, praise for the sliced raw mushrooms and the exquisite culatello.First to be applauded, especially the mushroom crepes. Second courses selected with meat, expertly cooked rigorously on the grill, sliced, horse and donkey. Be ready for desserts, their homemade ice cream will make you come back with your eyes closed! Also worth mentioning are their biscuits, also homemade.The same owners also own the wine shop on the street, from which the restaurant can be accessed quickly, guaranteeing a vast choice of wines, even by the glass.If you succeed, I recommend you have a pleasant experience at the Farmacia dei Sani, all accompanied by the courtesy and professionalism of the owners. Just remember to book, especially if you want to come on a Saturday or Sunday where you will have to take into account a long waiting list.I forgot, the price, you will be amazed, generally for a complete lunch, including wines it reaches 25 max 30 euros each, truly excellent value for money.
